Cooperative Amal

I visited the Amal Cooperative (Hope in Arabic) on my way to Essaouira from Marrackech. We booked the tour in the hotel where we were staying. It's worth making a stop along the way to visit one of the only women's cooperatives that exists, and is also pioneered, in Morocco. Located in the village of Tamanar, the coop has several goals. It wants to bring back the use of Argan oil, considered the best in the world, preserve and protect the ancient Argan tree and, with benefits, contribute to the literacy and education of Berber women of Tamanar. The visit was guided and very enriching. We got to see women working in the extraction process of Argan.
