Había salido de trabajar y bajaba andando desde Trone (la zona donde trabajaba) hasta el centro (vivía cerca). Como siempre, solía andar escuchando música y un poco despistada, pensando en mis cosas. Quería acercarme a la Gran Place porque me habían avisado de que ya habían puesto el árbol, y hacia allí fui. Recuerdo la impresión que me produjo todo: llegue justo cuando comenzaba un espectáculo de luz y sonido, con opera y mezcla de música moderna tocada por orquesta y el juego de luces haciendo figuras en las fachadas de la Grand Place y me quede, literalmente, boquiabierta.Y allí me quede, maravillada, hasta que el frío me hizo seguir mi camino hacia casa. La comunidad musulmana nunca había dicho ni expuesto ninguna queja, muy al contrario, y salió inmediatamente un portavoz de la comunidad para dejar claro que ellos nunca habían dicho nada sobre ello, que no les pusiesen de pantalla de un problema que ellos no habían generado, y que era todo una chorrada porque además es que todo seguía igual: sólo habían sustituido un árbol por “una instalación contemporánea que simulaba lo mismo” ( lo que demostraba, a mi modo de ver, que esto del rollo musulmán lo usaron de excusa y generaron un problema mayor). Vamos: una cagada total. 11.000 personas firmaron una carta para que el tradicional árbol volviese al año siguiente.
