Praça das Armas

A Place d'Armes é uma praça à sombra do Château Frontenac, no centro histórico de Quebec. Rodeada pelo castelo, pelo monumento da UNESCO e pelas simpáticas ruas Sainte-Anne e Trésor, ela é especialmente movimentada no verão, quando muitos turistas passam por ali e descansam nos seus bancos. Ela é também, claro, um ótimo ponto para tirar fotos. A praça foi criada no século XVII para exercícios militares e concentração de tropas. Tempos depois perdeu esta utilidade, e no século XIX virou uma praça pública. No início do século XX ganhou uma fonte, o Monument de la Foi. Ela tem 12 metros de altura e quase 10 de largura, e comemora os 300 anos da chegadas dos padres Récollets no Canadá. A estátua no topo e detalhes em bronze vieram da França.
