Do you remember the movie Superman? Well this is the famous dam that was in that movie. It is on the way to Las Vegas and is one of the largest dams in the world (do Americans do anything small???) Looking at this dam is impressive. It seems that there is no end to it and it's tremendously tall. Dizzying views, so those with vertigo should take care.
Traveling from Las Vegas towards the Grand Canyon, following the dusty roads of the arid desert, I found the biggest reservoir in the US: Lake Mead! This is the 16th largest artificial lake in the world, formed when the Hoover Dam was built across the Colorado River, and it fills an area of 1.5 million acres. The scenery is stunning...a beautiful blue lake with whitish edges, surrounded by jagged mountains of red earth scattered with desert vegetation. On the road there are a few vantage points for enjoying the stunning landscape, and there is an area to enjoy many water sports like boating, jet skiing, fishing, rafting...you even have the possibility of taking a cruise!
This zipwire reaches 60 km/h and slips through the mountains near Las Vegas, in Bootleg Canyon. The drop is 1 mile and you spend every momentsitting in a sort of safety harness. The price is 114 € per person and in addition to releasing adrenaline, you can enjoy the desert landscape surrounding Las Vegas.
For 105€ per person you can hire a driver to fly a helicopter over the Colorado Grand Canyon. You need to pay a tax to the Indians, as the base is on the reserve, which is 32 € per person. The flight goes inside the canyon above the river, and runs through the area on an exclusive trip.
