Gorgonita
Built in 2001
Joao II Square (or Praca Joao II) is on the River Ave, just across the Praça da Ribeira. It's a large open, paved and was built in 2001. Multiple fountains of spherical shape spring from the soil and there's a metal modern monument surrounded by a pond in which there's a sculpture of a mermaid. In the highest part of the square are the Chapel and the viewpoint of Socorro.
