1 review of San Francisco Fire Dept. Museum

A large collection of photographs

The San Francisco Fire Dept. Museum (San Francisco) maintains a large collection of photographs, equipment and documents from the San Francisco Fire Department, especially the Volunteer Fire Brigade, which was in existence from 1849 to 1866. There is a special exhibition dedicated to Lillie Hitchcock Coit who paid for the construction of Coit Tower on Telegraph Hill as a monument to the firefighters.
