Portuguese Cathedral

Cathedral in the medina

Safi Portuguese Cathedral is a tiny chapel, which can be reached from Souq Street, in the heart of the medina. The colonial city was developed by the Portuguese, as the city of El Jadida. The problem is that the Portuguese Safi went so fast they did not have time to finish the cathedral! It was constructed in the year 1519, and what you see now is the part that the ship was going to be a much more ambitious project. When you go inside the medina through the front door it is to your right and stated. If you have any questions, do not join the "guides", who then expect a big tip.
